Moment: Cliff face falls at Normandy beach

An onlooker has captured the moment part of a cliff gave way on a beach in France’s northern Normandy region in an incident which did not cause any injuries, according to French media.

The collapse happened in the Petites Dalles area of the municipality of Saint-Martin-aux-Buneaux.

Three dead in Isle of Wight helicopter crash

Three people have died and one has been seriously injured after a helicopter crashed in a field during a flying lesson near a seaside resort town on Britain’s Isle of Wight on Monday, police say. The Robinson R44 II helicopter had a pilot and three passengers onboard when it crashed just before 9:30 am, authorities said. The operator, Northumbria Helicopters, said its aircraft was involved in a crash during a flight lesson.

Journalists killed in strike on hospital

Israel has struck Nasser hospital in the south of the Gaza Strip, killing at least 20 people, including five journalists who worked for Reuters, the Associated Press, Al Jazeera and others. Cameraman Hussam al-Masri, a Reuters contractor, was killed near a live broadcasting position operated by Reuters on an upper floor just below the roof of the hospital in Khan Younis in an initial strike, Palestinian health officials said.

Putin seeks help as economy sputters

On the eve of a visit to China, Russian leader Vladimir Putin has blasted Western sanctions as his country’s economy teeters on the brink of recession, wounded by trade curbs and the cost of his war in Ukraine. Russia and China jointly opposed “discriminatory” sanctions in global trade, Putin said in a written interview with China’s official Xinhua news agency. Putin will be in China, Russia’s biggest trading partner, from Sunday to Wednesday in a four-day visit that the Kremlin has called “unprecedented.“
