Norwegian ambassador targeted in grenade attack

A grenade has been thrown at the residence of the Norwegian ambassador to Israel in Tel Aviv, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar says, causing no injury.

"I spoke a short time ago with the Norwegian ambassador to Israel, Per Egil Selvaag, in whose yard a grenade was thrown this evening," Saar said on X.

"I strongly condemn this serious and dangerous crime."

The Israeli Foreign Ministry did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

In Oslo, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry said an explosion occurred at the residence. "No staff with the embassy was injured during the incident," it said in an emailed statement, which did not say what caused the explosion.

Israeli police said in a statement "light property damage was sustained" and that it had opened an investigation.

‘Heroic’ church staff helped avert mass shooting

A man who opened fire outside a Michigan church filled with worshippers over the weekend was struck by a vehicle and then fatally shot by security staff who averted a potential mass shooting, police say. Churchgoers attending a morning service at CrossPointe Community Church in Wayne spotted the gunman driving recklessly and then saw him exit his car wearing a tactical vest and carrying a rifle and a handgun, police Chief Ryan Strong said at an evening news conference.

Israel strikes after Trump’s call to stop

Iranian and Israeli media have reported new Israeli airstrikes on Iran, despite US President Donald Trump’s statement that Israel called them off at his command to preserve an hours-old ceasefire. Two explosions were heard in the capital, the judiciary news outlet Mizan reported. Israeli army radio said Israel had struck an Iranian radar site near Tehran.

Israel: Cluster bombs targeted civilians

Iran has launched a missile at Israel that scattered small bombs with the aim of increasing civilian casualties, the Israeli military and its Washington embassy say, the first reported use of cluster munitions in the escalating seven-day-old war. “Today, the Iranian Armed Forces fired a missile that contained cluster submunitions at a densely populated civilian area in Israel,“ the embassy said in an email to Reuters that did not identify the area.
