Australia’s Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, trailing in polls ahead of the May 3 election, has pledged to boost defence spending, as the Trump administration pushes allies to spend more on security. Fresh off the third leaders’ debate, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton pledged to spend $21 billion over the next five years on defence, which would take its share of Australia’s gross domestic product to 2.5 per cent.
