Official on ‘special’ mission for Putin to Pyongyang

A top Russian security official has arrived in Pyongyang for the second time this month for another meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Russian state media has reported, the latest display of the countries’ deepening ties amid President Vladimir Putin’s war against Ukraine. Russia’s Tass news agency said Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu arrived in the North Korean capital on an unspecified “special” mission from Putin and was expected to meet with Kim. North Korean state media didn’t immediately confirm the visit.

Trump wants ‘real end’ to Iran conflict

US President Donald Trump says he wants a “real end” to the nuclear dispute with Iran, and indicated he may send senior American officials to meet with the Islamic Republic as the Israel-Iran air war raged for a fifth straight day. G7 convenes amid global uncertainty

Leaders from the Group of Seven nations will shortly begin annual talks amid wars in Ukraine and the Middle East that add to global economic uncertainty, as host Canada tries to avoid a clash with US President Donald Trump.
